The 4-series dynamic management function is not only the sum of its various parts, but also has the function of 4-series products, adds the function equivalent to four D2 dynamic equalizers at the input, adds C2 compression channel at each output, and adds a new matrix hybrid function mode.
By using two units (dp548 – 4 I / 8 output, and dp544 – 4 I / 4 output), you can use the updated DSP platform to retain and expand all the original functions and sound quality of the 4 series, which has never been before. Each input has a 28 band graphic equalizer that can be configured to model our own gq600 or older inductor based designs (e.g. dn27).
There are also eight "traditional" parameter equalizers on each input.
All parameter parts can be reconfigured for many alternative filter characteristics, including familiar high and low-grade and notch filters, but band-pass, elliptical and variable "Q" shapes and phase adjustment can be in steps of 2 degrees.
Importantly, you may be used to this equalizer, a powerful dynamic equalizer. The three frequency bands of SIDD's dynamic EQ are available for each input and support all four operating modes (therefore, cut-off / enhancement above or below the threshold). Each frequency band will cover the entire range of 20-20K, with envelope (attack / release) control and setting the "strength" (dynamic ratio) that allows the gain adjustment amount and selects the effect.
Dynamic equalizer, graphic equalizer settings, all other input settings or all output settings and, if necessary, each combination of these settings can also be stored in its own memory.
Considering that this can be daunting and can still be edited through the front panel, audiocore turns on dynamic EQ editing in a very intuitive way.
Routing input to output is as flexible as before, any input or combination of inputs can switch to any output, and there are various useful templates to help you get started (and default intersections to help).
The 5 series also supports the full matrix hybrid mode, in which the input can be mixed with any output in any proportion, and four "sends" are provided on each output channel, not just on / off.
From the output part, the slope of the necessary frequency division filter ranges from 6dB / octave to 48dB / octave. Following more than nine parametric equalizer bands, we can then choose a dynamics useful for protection or creative use.
Before the limiter part, there is now a functional compressor with variable knees, which can change it from a safe corrective tool (with hard knees) to a soft (but still high ratio if necessary) effect. Its existence is gradually felt only with the increase of the threshold. Approach and surpass.
Each output also has a limiter combination - a limiter designed to prevent overheating of a single drive, and an additional lead "D-max" limiter to increase safety and prevent excessive drive movement.
With a completely flexible combination of all channels for time alignment, coupled with sub millimeter accuracy, it can be seen that the 5 series will be applicable in any case.
